Thanks and No Thanks

I would like to thank fellow blogger Ron, for the nice new look my blog site has. Ron is a very inquisitive, intelligent, and innovative individual. With no formal training in programming, he has learned how to negotiate the complex language of computers on his own. Programming is not an easy task, even for someone with a BA in computer programming. He has a natural curiosity, and dedication, to understanding and writing, computer language. Bravo Ron, well done.

There is an article in today’s paper that states, reliable sources in the defense department wants to send U.S.Troops now stationed in South Korea, to Iraq. The Pentagon is meeting with South Korea, trying to determine the minimum amount of U.S. support South Korea would except, and still feel secure against North Korea. The troop movement to Iraq would not occur until the Troops in South Korea are scheduled to rotate this summer.

There are several things I find wrong with this. First and foremost, my son is now stationed in South Korea. I have no desire to see him go to Iraq.

Secondly, This is a political move to accomplish several things. One is to reduce the number of military reservist they have to send to an already unpopular war, and risk more discontent. Hopefully, they wont have to reinstate the draft, or embarrassingly ask for higher quotas of enlistment.

Third, why do we have to ask any country, how many of our troops we can pull out?

Fourth, but certainly not least, the unnamed source that knows everything. Why are they unnamed? Everyone knows it came from Rumsfield/Bush. Why do they feel the need to be secretive about this? Is there something they don’t want the public to know?

It seems I am always complaining, and I apologize, but our current government provokes me with their anti blue collar sentiment, and the strong arm tactics they use to protect their own. But what do I know, I’m just an average American.
